Whispers in the Trees

Whispers in the Trees

Although there has been a few frosty mornings to acclimatize us to the onset of winter, it has been a predominantly wet and misty autumn in my part of the shire, and very muddy underfoot.

Whispers in the Trees

The harsh winds have stripped away the remaining leaves from most of the deciduous trees and hedgerows around my writer’s nest, and the landscape seems more expansive.

It’s colder now. The nights are long as darkness lingers at both ends of the day. But I love this time of the year, and am filled with a joyful anticipation and a reassuring sense of deep calm as we move towards the winter solstice.

Whispers in the Trees

Creatively, my imagination is in overdrive. I’m currently crafting new words for a short collection of writing, and this is eating my hours like there’s no tomorrow. But that’s what writing does.

In the breaks from word-weaving, I’ve been playing with imagery, listening to music and dancing about to keep the blood flowing.

Whispers in the Trees

I found a piece of music titled Alduarthan, created and performed by The Mind Orchestra. The piece instantly transported me to one of my favourite woodlands so I felt inspired to make a super-short film to the soundtrack.

The end result is cut loose from time. The film has no beginning and no ending. The plot is a total mystery. There’s probably a story in there somewhere. What do you think?…

I did not know until after I finished making the film that the soundtrack was inspired by a deep friendship between a man and an oak tree. The creator of the music says: ‘It’s a Druid medicine song… I went to the forest and the tree, and asked them to teach me a song and for us to make music together – and this is the result. Recorded in the forest, this music speaks of unity and a lack of separation between beings through the lens of emptiness and its teachings and blessings. A tale of love and togetherness.’

I feel that I could not have chosen a better piece of music. It feels so relevant; so resonant.

The film is my end of year creative offering – something dreamy and mysterious, perhaps, to gently sing to the nature within you.

As we move towards the end of this extraordinary 2020 on the Earth timeline, I thank you for sharing the journey and supporting my creativity. May you know happiness, love, peace, kindness and truth in the on-going Earth tour. Have a wonderful NOW and shine bright.  ⋆♡⋆
